Hi Cousins!

Hi! It would be nice to hear an update from Sydney's kids. Anyone out there???

It has been twelve years since Tanner Smith died. I don't want to make people sad thinking about him but perhaps some of the cousins could share a happy memory. Since he was ten years younger than me, I never interacted with him much. (I just looked and I am closer in age to my parents and aunts and uncles than to some of my cousins. In fact I have first cousins that I would not recognize if I met them on the street and some that I have never met. Thanks again to Robin for starting this blog! Let's keep it up!) Question of the day: Can you name all of your first cousins? In order of age? How about their middle names? Married names? Kids' names if they have kids?

Our Daniel Tanner (not to be confused with Morgan's Daniel Tanner) is having a very uneventful recovery. We appreciate your faith and prayers in his behalf. He is one of three heart babies who were born in the same hospital and had their surgeries just days apart at the same hospital by the same surgeon. One of the babies was still recovering in the hospital last I heard a few days ago, having had some emergencies and setbacks. The other baby was discharged but just had to be lifeflighted back to Philadelphia from Kansas City and he is now fighting for his life. We are continuing to pray for Daniel's recovery (as well as the other heart babies we know) and we don't take his good health and recovery for granted but realize that he is an amazing gift.

Someone I will not name (no, not my husband, he's been to St. Johns) informed me the other day that Pioneer Day was not celebrated outside of Utah. I just sighed. Surely there are some Mormon settlements somewhere outside of Utah where they celebrate the holiday. You know, places like Arizona, Idaho, maybe even Canada? (Kristi?) So, Happy Pioneer Day to all of you!

amy great post!!! thank you so much for all of the baby daniel updates! we really are so grateful that things have been going well for your family!

as for sydney's kids... i have tracked down a few and asked them to spread the word but no one has registered with the blog... so i'm not sure what more i can do. eva (are you out there?) i'm pretty sure reads it every so often since she helped me update my birthday list to make sure i had everyone from her family...

as for the cousins.... i extended the invitation to seniors in high school as the cut off age (asia, arielle and jessie). but maybe it will just take a bit to catch on!

i have a ways to go to learn all of my cousins' kids names but this is helping me get there! i really like when you guys post about an individual child or your husbands/wives, that has been really fun for me!

and as for pioneer day... i ALWAYS shock people that i'm from arizona and love pioneer day so much! i think idaho and arizona may be the only spots that celebrate it (as well as a tiny town in central brazil where i through a pioneer day ward party on my mission! it was great!) christian is from virginia/maryland/pennsylvania area and says he NEVER heard about celebrations either.
